Like the flamante Q2, the pocket-sized device is intolerante lightweight and comes with a neat carry case, which is ideal for travel.

The TheraFlow was one of our favorite massagers, but it has a design flaw we couldn’t overlook. The motor head is quite heavy, and the handle is too short, so you need to grip the massager higher up.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, massage guns deliver targeted percussive therapy directly to your muscles, improving muscle recovery, range of motion and blood flow.

I also didn’t like the additional built-in sound options — like birds chirping and water sounds — because they were pretty “harsh” sounds that looped far too quickly. Most of the time, I used the Eyeris 3 in silence or opted for my own earbuds.

But the most importante upgrade is the addition of heat and cold therapy. You Chucho either warm the head up to 40-45°C or cool it down to 10-15°C. Heat therapy helps to boost blood flow to the muscles, which is great for warm-ups, while cold therapy works to reduce swelling and pain in muscles, which makes it the perfect post-workout option.

The problem with this design is that there's no way of knowing when it's time to recharge the massage gun. If you're looking for a small yet powerful massage gun that's portable, the Theragun Mini is a good choice.

Better still, there are five speed settings and seven interchangeable heads (which you can use with massage oil), allowing you to target different muscle groups and areas of the body. There’s even a head designed to combat and help reduce cellulite – a heated leg massagers first in our round-up.

Some of the bulkier options on this list may be too cumbersome to take with you on the go, but there was no such problem with this pocket-sized model from Hyperice. The compact design means it effortlessly fits in most gym bags and it's easy to manoeuvre.

If you work with your hands a lot or suffer from arthritis pain, regular use of a dedicated hand massager may help your fingers and joints.

I tested over 17 top-rated massage guns and my favorite was the Theragun Elite. It's easy enough to use for both beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts. The screen on the handle is simple to follow, so the massage gun speed and battery life are clear.

The TheraFlow has three attachments made of silicone, which are very flexible and easy to put on and take off the single-motor head.

We noted if range of movement was limited because of the length of the power cord. In most cases, it was; the HoMedic was the exception.

It’s also very easy to use; all you have to do is put it down, press power, lay on it, and hand massagers press a button to add heat. Overall, we felt that the cost, in comparison to the value it provided, was well worth it.
